Chris Vomund
Chris Vomund is a native of Columbia, Mo, where he has been a member of Our Lady of Lourdes parish for most of his life.
Chris spent five years discerning a vocation to the priesthood before completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri – Columbia. He has remained passionate about theology and sharing his love of the Lord and his Church with others.
Chris has worked in a number of fields, including Catholic education and sales and sales management. From 2010 to 2012, Chris pursued his professional career in Northern Virginia where he received numerous awards and recognition for his leadership as well as his ability to build and motivate teams. He returned to his hometown in 2012 to be closer to his family.
In 2013, Chris worked to organize a Columbia Squires Circle at Fr. Tolton Catholic High School, sponsored by Knights of Columbus – Columbia Council 1529. The Circle quickly became one of the largest and fastest growing circles in the State of Missouri. He remains an active counselor for the circle.
In 2014, Chris joined the Youth Ministry Core Team at Our Lady of Lourdes, where he leveraged his knowledge, energy, and leadership experience to help rebuild a struggling youth ministry program.
Chris works to build meaningful relationships with students, meeting them where they are and using language they understand not only to teach theology, but to share the love of Christ and to instill the faith in them. He is renowned for his ability to discuss complex ideas without “watering down” the theology and his willingness to discuss even uncomfortable, uneasy, or unpopular topics. Chris has been recognized by youth ministry leaders and parents alike for his impact on students and their faith formation.
